Felix shed tears freely, he was in pain, he lay curled up in his bed staring at the ceiling. Painful tears running down his hairy cheeks, wishing he could die.
At 25 Felix knew everything about pain, he was barely a month when he was diagnosed with sickle cell disease. A hard life he lived, in and out of the hospital due to this crisis. He would need to use strong analgesics in form of opioids to try keep her discomfort at bay.
After some years of struggle with the disease and struggles of his parents to pay his school fees, he joined a missionary school to take clinical medicine. Realising that he had easy access to these pain medications, he fell into bad habit of self treating, till he developed a new problem of medical opioids dependence.
This was getting out of hand and he was given an option of seeking help through rehabilitation as a condition to continue with his studies..
The rest is a story of another day.....
