Nothing can make you understand your beliefs than trying to explain them to an inquisitive child.
Still nothing can make you understand your health and that of your family than trying to explain what you do to maintain it to an inquisitive victim of bad health.
With that in mind I saw it important to learn a bit about obesity and weight management both in children and in adults. Sorry to say, obesity has become an epidemic that threatens the global physical, mental, social, economic and emotional well being.
Obesity is simply defined by a mass index of 30kg|square meter or greater.
Obesity results from several causes.
* May be as a result of genes, that is, a specific variant of a single gene(monogenic obesity) that runs in a family.
* Poor eating habits
* Decreased requirement for physical exercises mostly in the modern generation who wants to just eat and remain in bed the whole day watching movies, chatting or else eating snacks, which tends to be even more fatal to your good health.
Just to mention a few of the endless list.
Obesity is associated with a lot of medical and surgical conditions like diabetes mellitus, coronary heart diseases, hypertension, certain carcinomas and sleep breathing disorders.
Lucky enough, according to dietary guidelines for Americans 2020-2025 we can control all these by taking caution and observing several things like.
Diet: Eating vegetables and fruits, whole grains, lean protein foods, sea foods, low and fat free dairy products, legumes, soy products and seeds.
Physical activity: For children between 3-5 years should be active through out the day. For those between 6-17 years should at least have 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity everyday.
For a better living and a healthy life, let's all observe on feeding habits, physical exercises and good sleep.
