There are two kinds of sadness.
The first arrives unexpectedly at your door. loud and brazen, it demands to be felt in all of its being. It carves a hole in your heart, leaves you breathless, curled up on the bathroom floor. But there’s a certain beauty in this sadness, a devastating tsunami that reshapes your world. Like the pandora’s box, it brings hope in its wake. It’s the kind of sadness that inspires great art. A story of our fragility and endurance. Sometimes pain is what makes us human.
The second is tricky to describe. It’s quiet and a bit sly. It may arrive in a gift box from a lover. or a heritage passed down generations. Once it finds you, it takes hold. like a fungus mycelium, everything it touches starts to rot. It’s corrosive and toxic. The kind of sadness that can take years to realize. A freshly painted ship, rust eating it from inside. It leaves an imprint, forcing you to carry it around.
