How Is The Current Situation of Kenyan Economy
The Kenyan economy is very high right now. Everyone is complaining about the high surge of basic necessities which is increasing day in day out. It is not a big deal to go out shopping and come back with half of your list. If you are an active user of social media I'm pretty sure you have come across the trending hashtag “Lowerfoodprices.”

So what is happening?

I was listening to a member of parliament being questioned about the issue and his response was higher taxes and increased costs of production, including that of farm inputs, have been blamed for pushing up prices. But the big question is, why should the government increase taxes when it is crystal clear a big percentage of people haven’t recovered from job loss caused by Covid-19.

I don’t see the logic behind the whole story.

In my own perspective, I think there is more to this. When you visit different farms in Kenya, every farmer is complaining about how they are being exploited by middlemen, the high cost of farm inputs, but I have never heard someone address the issue.

When you think of it deeply, it is somehow connected to the upcoming elections. What if some people are using it to their own benefit? What if the “dynasty” wants to use the situation as a point to persuade people to vote them in?

We are in a situation where it’s everyone for their own, but who is for the needy? That way you should think wisely when you wake up early and waste the whole day lining up to give people jobs when you are jobless.
