Healthy eating
In the majority of Kenyan kitchens, meal plans are an integral part of our day-to-day endeavors. All through childhood as well as our own adult home three meals are common rice and beans, ugali and spinach, and chapati and beans. Well, I do believe that these meals are the staple foods of the majority of Kenyan homes. So today I would like to challenge the meal plan. Although the above choices are great it might be a good idea to shake it up and create a none monotonous menu.
One major part of the meal plan has to involve proteins, carbohydrates, and vegetables, creating a healthy meal. Now considering three meals might not necessarily be an easy plan but one major meal is important throughout the day. Therefore we will discuss a super meal.
To be able to achieve a healthy meal is often assumed that the cost implication is great but it does not necessarily have to break the bank. I will outline the different types of sources of protein, carbohydrates, and vegetables.
Proteins can be found in beef, lamb, pork, chicken, fish, chickpeas, lentils, peanuts, eggs, milk, and many more. Although some of this sources any not be easily affordable it is a necessary part of the healthy diet. It needs to be provided in small quantities since large quantities may cause different effects.
The second type is carbohydrates. Carbohydrates include rice, bread, pasta, beans, maize, corn, potatoes, fruits, and many more.
The third group is vegetables. This is a food rich in fiber. This includes and is not limited to cabbages, spinach, kales, broccoli, cauliflower, french beans, and many more.
To be able to create an effective meal plan a person may need to include each of the three food sources to allow healthy eating. Although all three are necessary each of the sources plays different roles in the body and therefore important. Although divided into three portions. Therefore it might not always be possible to effectively follow a meal plan but it is important to ensure an effective allocation of healthy eating.
To be able to eat healthily helps ensure that one may avoid lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, and many others. This disease can be prevented by the effective allocation of eating portions and healthy diets. It is, therefore, necessary to try a healthier way of eating within the family set up this creating a healthy family.
