Twenty five point zero five million light years away or about 250 trillion kilometres, the distance across which Vega has to shine for you to see her and when you do, she looks as tiny as a magnificent blue bulb. Vega is said to be over double the size of the sun, the sun is estimated to be about a hundred times wider than the Earth, Vega must be vast, she is the bright blue beauty residing in the Constellation Cygnus.
If you are a curious human, then you do look at the sky sometimes and wonder who else is looking up, from where on earth and if someone or something else is looking back from some neighbourhood across those shiny stars.
There is this app called Stellarium, when you do wonder into the night and gaze upon the sky, Stellarium can help you see more of Vega and her neighbours across the sky. Be careful, the more you look at them, the more you want to know, the more you know you do not know, remember the distance :).
Happy sky watching this holiday season!
