As per wikipedia, change management is a collective term for all approaches to prepare, support, and help individuals, teams, and organisation's in making organisational change.
Whether you work in a waterfall or agile project management team, one thing is certain, you have to do change management well to have successful and smooth roll outs of proposed IT system or service changes. Having worked in the hybrids and each of the styles, here are some take aways that consistently work.
# Clarity - as Project Manager and or a Scrum Master, you have to clearly communicate the scope of the project to your team and stakeholders.
# Backlog Management - This involves defining the task/stories well and prioritising them accordingly.
# Training - All the team members need to be well trained in the tasks they are needed to execute.
# Processes - There has to be clear guidelines on what is done when and by which role.
# Culture - The culture has to be right for the team to deliver.
# Feedback - There must be consistent forward and backward feedback to ensure progress. This may include; Code Reviews, Technical Reviews and UAT.
# Walkthrough - At every stage, the team must have review meetings to ensure that the work in progress is still in line with expectation and or if the scope has changed or need to be updated.
# Scheduling outages along with the planned releases.
